I think it's about friends. Like, the fireflies are his friends. When Adam said: To ten million fireflies I'm weird 'cause i hate goodbyes i got misty eyes as they said farewell but ill know where several are if my dreams get real bizarre 'cause i saved a few and i keep them in a jar, I think he was saying he's sad because he's leaving and his friends aren't all too sad. But he's okay because he knows that he will always "know where several are" because those are his closest friends and he'll keep in touch. Idk, it makes a lot of sense to me.
