I think this song is about a broken relationship that is nearing its end. The first verse shows the wish of the person to break free from this relationship: "The burning desire To live and roam free" and that there is no hope for them both to go on: "So where I am going You won't be in the end" The chorus then is a reflections on the whole relationship. The person basicly asks what happened to all the hope and dreams (their Utopia) they both had at the time they fell in love. I think the second verse signals a bit of selfdoubt. Maybe it was my fault the the love went cold: "You're hurting inside Is there life within me?" During the song it becomes obvious that the other person in this relationship still thinks that they can save this love, but still can't see the doubt. "You're holding my hand But you don't understand" So to sum it all up. The person in this song has serious doubt about a current relationship and has the desire to break free from it to follow his/her dreams |
