i can so relate to this song, i interpreted it as someone wanting to leave the town they were living in because it's narrow minded or because they feel cramped & squashed down. Like a big fish in a little goldfish bowl. And how it would be scary at times to leave this contained place to the big ocean but she'd just have to live with it e.g the line 'and i would be brave'. Thats just the idea i got (: |

I agree with onetwofold. Lines like 'lost in the woods with two crumbs for taking' shows he needs to make a decision between her & his girlfriend/wife. And the whole 'you tell me about her & all the plans you're making', it doesn't sound like something you'd tell your wife, it's like he can't make a decision & so voices his thoughts to her & she wants him to herself 'i don't want to share your fingers through my hair' but wants him to be happy ' i guess that i could share your fingers through my hair'. But she also doesn't want him to go away & then keep wanting her & doesn't want him to stay if he's gonna keep wanting his wife. If any of that makes any sense lol |
