This song is an amazing song to open the album. Upon listening to the song more and researching it too, not only do I feel that it is referencing George Orwell's 1984, but I think the songs lyrics and subject is about Conspiracy Theories in general. It's basicaly when people are told the truth of something terrible and they refuse it thus making consipracy theories, and how people try to disprove the thories with the truth: "you have not been paying attention" How the theorist tries to point out the "facts" of the theory they believe in: "I'll lay down the tracks" How the theorist try to say their not crazy for believing such things: "Don't question my authority or put me in a box" "Go and tell the king that the sky is falling in, but it's not" This line could refer to either the theorist or "skeptic" saying to each other to tell them whose in charge this when it's not true. "But It's Not...Maybe Not" The Theorist or Skeptic possibly giving in to what the other had to say about a said Conspiracy Theory. This is to my opinion/interpretation of course and Radiohead seem to have made the song with that clever little meaning. |

To my Opinion the lines "This is not about God Spiritual insinuatons seem to shock our nation" is to me the band bascailly telling those who always thought CREED to be a Christian band that this song, nor any other of their songs really focus on the christain faith. An awesome song all in all, really powerful message it holds. I hope anyone dosnt argue about my Opinon on the line either |

I agree that it sounds liek a song that aplogizes to the Band. This song sometimes makes me cry, it means alot to me. In my opion this is can be used for disbanded friendships, I almost lost all my best friends due to something I must have done. So this is really speaks to me. |
