I think what Nelly is trying to sing is that after all the bad experiences she has been through with people and previous lovers, she develops a rather cynical outlook on life. When it seems a new relationship is formed and she is in love again, she is reluctant to give all of herself emotionally. She is afraid to learn more about this person, about the "realness" of the relationship, and only to end up with more sadness and crying. She thought she had her life with her lover so beautiful and planned out, only to have to bitterly say goodbye when the relationship ends. Therefore, when the boyfriend wants more out of their relationship, all she can do is try so that she does not get hurt again. |

Calm down, mate.
First, this song was written by Jessi Alexander and Jon Mabe, not Miley Cyrus. They wrote it from their own experiences in life, probably before they even know what Hannah Montana is.
Second, this song is for kids. And seriously, it means a lot to young children. Take myself as an example. My viewpoint of life has changed A LOT ever since I heard this song. It taught me an invaluable lesson that can probably only be told from a very wisdom person.
Third, if a family can afford cable for their kids to watch Hannah Montana, they may not have to face hardships as you do. So obviously this show was aimed at different audiences, by providing young children with entertainment and songs with very good messages/meanings. |

txdreamer, your comment mean A LOT to me. Since now I understand the song, my viewpoint of life changed a lot. Whatever I do, I always do my best. In the end, winning or losing doesn't matter, because it is all about the climb, "about how we learn from our experiences & the good life skills we can take from them".
