| Grateful Dead – Alabama Getaway Lyrics | 1 year ago |
|
So, at Christmastime when Jerry was a child, he was taken by his Mom and Aunt to see Santa at a local department store in Montgomery, Alabama where he grew up. Jerry asked him for an electric guitar, swearing he was a good boy all year long, which he was not. Christmas Morning arrived, but there was no guitar. The very next day, Jerry broke open his piggy bank filled with money he made from washing windows in the neighborhood. He went down and bought a beat up piece of junk used guitar and came home and started playing it. His mother was pissed and he told her the story. She calmed down and swore that he would hunt down the lying Santa and knock all his teeth out. The chord progression he strummed became the chord progression for Alabama Getaway. |

| Bruce Springsteen – Lost In The Flood Lyrics | 3 years ago |
|
Bruce was dining in the back corner of Chinese Restaurant called Lee Ho Fook's in Asbury Park with Clarence in the summer of '72. Warren Zevon was Bruce's close friend and used the restaurant name in his hit song Werewolves of London. (That where the line "wolfman fairies" came from). At that point Bruce & Clarence were working on tunes for Greetings From Asbury Park. Bruce was really into the Grateful Dead at that point in his life, and he wanted to tie in Asbury Park and Haight-Ashbury (obviously spelled differently) where the Dead were hanging out, as a nod to Garcia. Clarence went to use the bathroom and was gone for like 10 minutes. When he got back he told Bruce he clogged the toilet. Bruce started to laugh until he saw water coming out from under the door of the bathroom. They quickly got the check, paid the bill and left. They were in Bruce’s car driving home and Clarence said “Hey, Gunner….that’s quicksand that ain’t MUD!!!” They got to Bruce’s place and wrote the song that night about the whole ordeal. |

| Tears for Fears – Everybody Wants to Rule the World Lyrics | 16 years ago |

OK, this is the definitive interpretation of this song. The song is about making money. Money=power=ruling the world. We needed a clever song with a good hook so we could make lots of money cuz we are greedy and want to make cash, cash, cash while we can. Welcome to your life (you need money to live; I need LOTS of money) There's no turning back (You need money onece you have the lavish lifestyle you can't go back) Even while we sleep (we make money even when we are asleep) We will find you acting on your best behavior (I wrote this cuz it is a clever way to disguise that I want money) Turn your back on Mother Nature (who cares about Mother Nature? She gets in the way of me making money) Everybody wants to rule the world (Money=power= ruling the world) It's my own design ( I wrote this song myself to make money) It's my own remorse ( Sounds deep but it is a clever way to make more money) Help me to decide (where should I spend my money?) Help me make the most (Help me make the most money I can and the most of my money) Of freedom and of pleasure (Money buys both freedom and pleasure, and i love money) Nothing ever lasts forever (Money can't buy you love or life, but I want money anyway) Everybody wants to rule the world (Money=power=ruling the world) There's a room where the light won't find you (a bank vault where I keep my money) Holding hands while the walls come tumbling down (meaningless, but I was counting my money and I couldn't think of any good lyrics) When they do I'll be right behind you (Making sure you don't take my money) So glad we've almost made it (Almost made enough money) So sad they had to fade it ( Soon I will be a has been and won't make any money so pay me now) Everybody wants to rule the world (Money=power= ruling the world) I can't stand this indecision (Should I buy my eighth house or another yacht with my money?) Married with a lack of vision (sounds deep, and it will make people think and pay me more money) Everybody wants to rule the world (money=power=ruling the world) Say that you'll never never never never need it (If you think this, you are a fool because we need more money. If you don't want your's give it to me) One headline why believe it? (Headlines make money. I own 5% of a newspaper and headlines make me tons of money.) Everybody wants to rule the world (Money...MONEY....MONEY!!!!!) There it is people. The song is all about making MONEY... |
