The Young Veins – Change Lyrics 16 years ago
i dont think its about panic! and their break-up at all. it seems pretty straightforeward that its about ryan and maybe he goes back to vegas (his hometown) after these 4 years of being a rockstar and sees his ex-gf that inspired so many songs in the AFYCSO album (a fever you can't sweat out). back then she cheated on him and now 'she begs for money, no one calls her honey' because her glory days of being hot and 'unattainable' are over but she's still acting the same way 'some people never change, they just stay the same' and her 'karma with a catch' is how she cheated on him and now 4 years later he's rich and famous and HE doesn't need HER anymore

The Young Veins – The Other Girl Lyrics 16 years ago
this song is pretty straightforeward, its almost sad when you look at ryans' past songs and how much meaning was behind them. basically he (ryan or jon; i would assume ryan) likes a girl but the girl is technically not single, even though her 'boyfriend' is cheating on her and everyone, even she, knows he is, yet she keeps staying with her bad bf anyway, which confounds ryan and he cant understand why the girl doesnt just break up with her bad boyfriend and date him instead

Don't have much to say right now
'Cause I'm trying to figure out
Why he's with the other girl
^^ at first i thought this verse was supposed to be some inner monologue of the girl getting cheated on, but i think now that its ryan who is just wondering the same thing as the girl getting cheated on which is, 'why aren't you appreciating her more? like i could!'

Panic! at the Disco – Mad As Rabbits Lyrics 16 years ago
the line 'mad as rabbits' actually is a take off of alice in wonderland, ryan talked about it in an interview, he loves the book. he has 2 tattoos 'mad as a hatter, thin as a dime' so if u thin about it, while the song wasn't called 'mad as hatters,' etc, i think it was supposed to derive from it, probably using the rabbit at the beginning of the story with the pocketwatch 'im running late!'

Panic! at the Disco – Behind the Sea Lyrics 16 years ago
besides how amazing this song is and how good ryans' voice sounds; i actually think this song has an entirely different meaning than their previous songs; i think it's about ryan and his life in school. i think it's about how ryan doesn't know what to do because he wants to be a song writer but his 'influences' from his life, aka abusive/drunk dad is such a big factor, he is too timid to write about it. i think that b/c he went to catholic school, (like me, so i can relate to this song), "we're all too small to talk to god" is his schools' stance and how they probably went to mass frequently like my school.

Left a nod over sleeping waves
Like bobbing bait for bathing cod
^^^ He put his song out there, (whether through a teacher or literary magazine in his school, idk) and he is waiting to see if any of the uncaring 'cod' (faculty) will notice his cry for help?

Matching legs/marching clocks
^^uniforms would mean matching right? what they wear in catholic school
and marching clocks maybe means how its just a matter of time before something happens to each of them.

Toast the fine folks casting silver crumbs
to us from the dock.
Jinxed things ringing as they leak
through tiny cracks in the boardwalk.
Scarecrow now its time to hatch
^^^I think the 'fine folks' are the teachers he's trying to reach for help the only way he knows how to, by writing. the silver crumbs are the moments occasionaly that they suspect something might be wrong at home.
'jixed things' are the bad things that go on at ryans' house that they dont want to see because it 'jinxes' the catholics ideals of family. I think 'leaking through the cracks' is maybe they had a conference with his dad, something they thought would help but definitly didnt!!
Scarecrow, i would definitly see from the wizard of oz saying 'if he only had a brain' which is ryan regretting writing about this whole 'ordeal' in the first place and now its time to 'hatch' and come clean about what he's been through in a beter way than talking to someone at school.

which is where panic at the disco comes in with their 'daydreams' from ryans 'amazing lyrics and 'golden head', from his 'wooden throat' meaning he doesn't want to talk about this, but he will. and his two songs "camisado" and "nails for breakfast, tacks for snacks'!

Panic! at the Disco – Build God, Then We'll Talk Lyrics 16 years ago
the 'purse of a different kind' is a black agenda that the 'virgin' keeps with her of all the men she is going to have sex with that week, month, etc. its a list of all her customers basically and when it falls out and is seen, the narrator of this song basically realizes she isnt the 'virgin' he thouught she was. i think the 'badge' isn't really a cop but the virgins' bf. you can tell from the other songs on Fever that ryan ross had a cheating gf; so this is another, more creatively written, song about her.

'between her and the badge
she spilled her purse and her bag
and held a 'purse' of a different kind
along with the people inside'

The Riverboat Gamblers – Don't Bury Me... I'm Still Not Dead Lyrics 16 years ago
I love the lyrics to this song, but the band really doesn't make it sound appealing at all! the way mike makes his voice sound uncomfortably deep in some parts and awkward amount of sylabals (sp?) in some lines and fewer in others makes the song very hard to be catchy because of something so trivial as the awkward beat! the lyrics to this are AMAZING! definitly a carpe diem (seize the day) motto of a song! my favorite part is:

To all those buried in the ground,
God knows I wish you were around,
to laugh and cuss about what's going down.
