to me, this is about the internal struggle between being in love and being a free spirit. he is saying that no one can own him no matter how committed he is. personally he must move on and belong to the world, not just one person. i don't think the chorus has anything to do with wanting to "show someone the way". it is said with disdain. maybe he has been hurt too much and knows it is easier to be alone. |
