there was a really interesting article in Time magazine's commemorative michael jackson issue about the artistic relationship between michael jackson and quincy jones during the making of thriller. apparently quincy really, really didn't like the bass line in the beginning of "billie jean," but michael was adamant about including it. i just thought this was kind of an interesting story, and proved how in tune michael really was with pop music. i don't know about others, but when i think of michael, the first three things i think of are the moonwalk, the thriller video, and that infectious bass line in the beginning of this song. say what you want about michael, but he was truly an artist. |

this is such a sexy song. i really liked the way it was done in the "this is it" film, the slow buildup, the back-and-forth between michael and the female dancer. stunning. |
