So I'm sitting here on Adderall right now and listening to this song on repeat. To me, it DEFINITELY sounds likes an amphetamine drug-related song... more of my interpretation is posted separately. "but i ascend and serve my feverish need, within the confines of such chemistry" -I don't need to take Adderall, but it makes my manic Monday workload fly by. It changes my chemistry by producing more dopamine making me concentrate longer. "let this be our little secret no one needs to know were feeling higher and higher and higher" - No one really knows I'm taking it because Adderall already has a bad rap. And it definitely gives me a good buzz. "but i feel alive and i feel it in me up and up i keep on climbing higher and higher and higher" - I'm accomplishing so much right now, I'm climbing higher and higher and higher on this corporate ladder. |

"watch the basin drain as your life lines wane and you cant explain as your friends complain" - This basin draining is my loss of spontaneousness/liveliness. My friends think I'm irritable and like a zombie when I'm on it. They complain about how direct and forward I am on it. "mother i can tell what youve been thinking staring at the stars on your ceiling thinking once there was a power that you were wielding" - My mother HATES that I take Adderall but can't do anything about it, she thinks I don't need it... I probably don't. "and now ive hit the mark staring at the dark" - I've graduated college and have a good marketing job, yet I'm still not sure where using/being dependent on Adderall will take me long-term. |
