i think it has to do with an intelligent student who doesn't agree with the school system. who says its has to be public? it can be a private school. the person engages in harmful acts or is watching being people engaging in harmful acts.i guess drugs. "I am my own killing moon" may mean that individual may be or end up being the cause of his own death "These impure thoughts lead to soulless action" his impure thoughts drive him to do stupid things he does it over and over again, the "cycle" constantly having confused thoughts, not knowing what to do. maybe his own confusion has impaired his ability to know right from wrong "A man with no release Cornered by his own thoughts Slowing the rotation of the cogs and he gears" his thoughts are constant, he can never stop thinking, it may cause him a lot of anxiety and it may interfere with his everyday life, where he can't function because he has such overwhelming thoughts. it may haunt him and he has no escape or "release" or it could completely be alcoholism. it's either severe anxiety that he can't function properly. or alcoholism |

well. this is pretty confusing i guess. maybe the cat without a mouse thing means something like, the person has no motivation to go after anything in life. a cat has a purpose when it's going after the mouse. it's something to motivate the cat. the person may have no motivation in life or feel like there is nothing really to offer him to motivate him. so he feels like he is a cat without a mouse. i think i over thought that. but i also think when it says- "it makes more sense to speak nonsense" it's saying that in a way it makes more sense to speak what others are saying or talking about to fit in, even though it doesn't make sense. "early-aged,self pitying, misfit" probably meaning this is about someone in high school, someone who is negative and doesn't really fit in. "Farewell to the Oldsmobile acknowledge the new models" may mean goodbye to what he was comfortable with or what he once knew,and saying hello to the new and what he's not comfortable with. or he's finally accepting something "farewell farewell Set me back in my old sweater for an hour or two" after saying farewell to the Oldsmobile he wants to go back, and back to his sweater, he wants back for at least an hour or two. he might want back to what he knew, or what he was comfortable with. he may want to give up all together "You have tried I'm afraid" might mean that others around him have tried to make him feel more comfortable but it didn't work. the "chorus" is most definitely about suicide. "What is the point of laying in a comfortable position if you can't fall asleep in it?" probably really just means what it says, but it could also mean what is the point of socializing and trying , if you're still uncomfortable even if you're somewhere where you shouldn't be uncomfortable. or AsTimePasses could be right too. this could be about someone lying in bed and having immense anxiety about socializing or just about life and is over thinking it and having ridiculous thoughts about it or thinking about suicide , causing him not to be able to sleep no matter what position |

i think it may be about someone(maybe someone in the band , it seems very personal and maybe not fully intended for us to even understand) watching a girl, female, whatever, in immense pain and suffering. when saying "watch the girl dream" it may be about someone who dreams about great things in life but things like depression get in the way "cups spill" could mean every things a mess, including what comes of tomorrow. or it could be negative thinking that what holds tomorrow is going to end up bad it's probably about self mutilation , but it could also be referring to drugs when it's saying "clenching the fist, raising the brow" and "as glass enters the vein" because the word justice is used i think she may be thinking she's doing something right and that she deserves to hurt herself in her own way it could be talking about a suicide note when saying "parchment paper crumbles" or it could mean the person is just into writing. and when it says "when the curtain falls" it could refer to something being discovered or something tragic happening. maybe the girl is discovered in what she's doing. (harming herself, drugs, her depression, etc.) when saying "shade this tribulation in pastels" it could mean the girl is creative, talented, or just into art and is hiding behind it and/ or going to it for comfort. OR it could mean to cover up and hide the pain or whatever tragic happened in brighter colors, not dark colors like blood and death or just ignoring it and pretending it's not there. "the river holds the color you describe as love." is pretty obvious. blood is the first thing that comes to mind really. this whole song centers around a few things pretty much i think- blood,suffering, & death. it could be about someone watching helplessly as the girl is suffering and hurting herself, and really doesn't know what to do. or maybe one of the band mates wrote it because they really did see this happen to someone and didn't do anything and the individual actually did commit suicide. it's a really deep song, and something meaningful had to have happened to one of them to come up with something so dark. i don't think it was written when they just felt like writing something random or something meaningless |
