| Conor Oberst – Synesthete Song Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Hi! To offer a writer's perspective, I'd like to mention that sometimes not even the writer himself knows what his work is really about. I like to compare it to the Rorshach (inkblot) tests, or dreams: you see what you're looking for. However, Mr. Oberst is a very intelligent man and it is entirely possible that he knows exactly what he's doing in all his lyrics, because he does have a tendency to link things (one only needs to look at his album and song titles; they're often linked. However, I don't think he himself is an actual synesthete. In my opinion, this song is either about an acid trip or a schizophrenic experience, as has already been mentioned. It seems to me that all the specific references are memorable images from his own life and experience, which is truly something only he would know. I have a tendency to write in a similar style (although not nearly as well) in that I take my memories that seem fragmented to anyone else and turn them into a poem and let other people figure out what they mean. ^.^ |

| He's definitely a native Canadian. Meaning, BORN IN CANADA. He also has some Native American (meaning, Indian) blood in him. Confusing terms, eh? | |
