I believe Petox is right. On the skin surface of it, It's about how suicide effects other people and makes them depressed. Then from part of the first verse I interpret as the guy being locked away in a state of depression that he has to fight himself to get out of. and he didn't do anything to be locked away into a depressed state, depression locked him away because he was affected by his mother's death (and she was affected by her father's death). Then by him being depressed/insane it becomes impossible for him to love things in life (he'll never hold roses in his hand). In the end ("saw him in the mirror...then he turned away I shot him in the head") I believe it can be thought of in two different ways. 1.He defeated himself- everything he didn't want to be (such as in fight club Tyler Durden/Brad pitt ended up being Edward Norton's character that Edward didn't want to be.) 2.He actually did end up committing suicide from being cut down repetitively by his insanity after being affected by suicides in the family. |
