Storm Thorgerson's work with Pink Floyd (and in general) is mind-blowing. His creative brilliance is staggering. He is a complete master at distorting reality. Then again, what IS reality? It can be a tough concept to grasp. This song brings to mind the expression of not knowing one's "head from their ass". Maybe someone came into this chap's life and spun his world off its axis. He no longer knows which end is up. I can relate to the feeling. I once made the mistake of thinking I was dealing with reality. I was told I was wrong. Not only has my heart been shredded like a cheap wet newspaper, also I am much crazier than I originally imagined myself to be. So to me Pink Floyd is saying, HEY. I might not know reality or my head from my ass, but I do know that hell is technology and heaven will always be your face. I wish you were here. Happy New Year |
