Makes me think the song is about finally letting go of a habitual cheater: You're old standby your right hand guy is nothing new and you're left with the evidence staring you in the face: I saw the light go out And should I go you won't say so I know its true |

I enjoy how, to me, it alludes to the after glow of sex with someone you're in love with: "Our bed we live, our bed we sleep making love and I become you flesh is warm with naked feet" The feelings are so strong and so good you want to spend all your time together naked in bed. and "love is still and sweat remains a cherished gift unselfish feeling... " After you're done, you just lay there. The sweat from your love making is still on your bodies and you know that you've given yourself in that moment and done what you can to please them. |

On the first few listens it sounded to me like he's saying "How spiritual" at the end. I almost wished that was what was said...would be appropriate. |

| Puddle of Mudd – Blurry Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I agree with this being the meaning, but I think "Blurry" refers to him crying about it. The world looks blurry through teary eyes. | |

This is such a great song. It mentions a summer month but hearing it makes me "feel" summer. Like I wanna be speeding down a highway somewhere with the top down. I think that the reminiscing back is waaaay back to his youth: "Drinking back drinking for two, Drinking with you, When drinking was new." He was so young when drinking was still new to him and with chewing gum and laughs and I think he's a little sad that now he's all grown up "So take a look at me now!" He wants that simplistic relationship back. |

| Exactly! Gotta like it just for that. Not a fan of the lyrics though. | |

When I first heard this...the first few lines I thought: "What's this new song from John Legend"...then I listen more and was sure it was him. anyway... Great song. *le sigh* What a lucky girl I'd be to inspire these feelings in another person. |

I often listen to songs with little attention to the words (to say I don't pay attention to the meaning) but I've always loved this song. It's by far one of my favorites of hers. So from that stand point I only thought it was about loss in every form (break-up, death etc). After hearing her explain the meaning/inspiration of the song on VH1 Storytellers I love it even more and can seldom listen to it now without tearing up or crying. |

| Tori Amos – Sleeps With Butterflies Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I like some of what's been said but I take the lyrics more in a negative/regretful way. Butterflies tend to go from flower to flower and when she realizes that the man she is with is the type to do this she's okay with it on a level but she wants to remind, him and herself, that's she's worth coming home to (committing to). So it's a sad thing to her to admit that men tend to take their relationships with her so casually. |

| Tori Amos – Spark Lyrics | 16 years ago |

BurntHorizons It would be cool if you were correct about the lyrics, but if you listen to a version without Tori's top vocals (one is available on that u tube site under Tori Amos - Spark - instrumental) you'll see that it is as posted previously "Sing low - Sing low - Sweet chariot") |
