I have a cut to sound assignment and I wanna do it on a jack johnson song so ive been listening through his albums with visuals in my head. To me the beginning of the song sounds like someone at a party sitting at a table just drinking with people but hes really selfconscious so he drinks excessively to get rid of the tension and to try and be `more open`. And his `friends` are telling him stories hes already heard. jack is basically speaking to the person. thats my interpretation of just the beginning |

| To me that last part sounds like a drunk driver. Societies addicted to the media and we cant stop it, an optomistic hypocrite who didnt have the nerve to quit sounds like someone who would talk about quitting and didnt and ended up hitting a wall (car, becoming immedietly stationary and crashing n dying) , to me hes making a parallel between society and the driver where that driver and hes saying that were about to crash | |

Upon listening to this for the first time, the first thing that pops in my head... `Well I'm just people watching, the other people watching me` Talking about how we act and dress and live according to what we always think the others think we are or how they think we should be. So in the end your not yourself, you`re what others think you are, so in the end your just people watching, other people watching me... Its super clear in my head but I cant make it make sense in text , but hopefully you understand :) |

Yeah I though that too but when i saw them life he said something about knowing a kid and being to selfish and scared to help him out. Amazing song |
