I think the song is trying to describe the events that happen prior to a couple breaking up. For a some break-ups, the event that makes one side give up can seem minor. Seeing your partner laughing at something someone said may seem like a petty reason for breaking up, but there can be a lot of history behind it. The relationship may already be on the decline, and it took seeing that to have the guy realize it. A laugh, a certain smile, a certain movement can serve as a reminder of many memories from the time spent together. Its a reminder of the many intimate moments spent together, the things that made you fall in love. The song is incredibly raw. It really reminds me of how I used to feel when I was way younger. It didn't result it our break-up, but boys can be really possessive. |
