this song is really good. it can be related to any slowly fading situation really - in particular, this is about not wanting someone to die for whatever reason, i would assume that the two were friends and tried drugs: Dear, slip these on your tongue Little seeds of reinvention And Angels hands The medicine of modern man ...and while the singer is alright, they're waiting by the other who may have gone too far with the drugs, i assume, and just wants them to hear that they wish they weren't going, and wish that they would stay alive as long as possible, so they can be together. i fear that this may happen to a friend of mine... |

"And then I get a scary thought That he's here means he's never lost" - BEST LINE EVER - she doesn't want to be there - she wants to forget him, cut him out of her life and forget him. her trauma and sadness is a result of him. trauma & sadness = "losing" the game of love. so, like her, if he had "lost" he would be just as sad and want to avoid her mutually. but "he's never lost" so he's still there, which brings more pain to her, she can't avoid him. it scares her that she's been hurt and will remain being hurt, while he feels absolutely nothing. |
