Hey thanks for that link! I'm glad I guessed right, but I was quite shocked when the singer said that "3 rounds and a sound" is an inspiration from China, and I'm Chinese... So I looked it up and found that the tradition he refers to actually prevailed before 1980s. Before then, China was a very poor country and couples getting married with "3 rounds and a sound" - a sewing machine, a bicyle, a watch and a radio, the more high-end products at that time - were considered quite affluent! Today life in this country is much much better, so I think that's why someone born in the late 1980s like me can't imagine those things as wedding musts. |

Then they bloom up from the ground like flowers to embrace lights [of happiness]. "3 Rounds and a sound" here might refer to the wedding tradition that MickT mentioned, but might also refer to a slow-motion blooming process. |

| It's one of the most soul-touching songs of Earlimart. I agree that the lyrics deal with the feeling of Ariana towards Aaron about his engagement with a dear girl. Ariana wanted so much to hold on to the spiritual ties with Aaron, which made her a little bit jealous of his relationship with that girl. The lyrics are so sentimental that they remind me somewhat of Mrs. Dalloway. All women who enjoy Platonian relationship with men might end up being like that, but both Ariana and Mrs. Dalloway prove to be strong and independent women, and very beautiful indeed. | |
