Interesting, never heard of a "two ton paperweight" having wheels and being referred to as a car. I am going to take the lyrics to this song and uncover the meaning in my rhetorical analysis group that meets weekly at my local college. I will get back to all of you very soon with an itemized and detailed analysis. |

It could be about U.C.C. redemption, I don't know. It is definitely about one man verses something much larger, society barking orders for one's entire life and finally having enough. I love this song because it reminds me of me, in front of the heavy-bag, throwing hands as hard as humanly possible. |

I am trying to grasp the meaning, I do know this song absolutely kicks ass while working out...thanks Alice in Chains for bringing back the late 1990s! |

Everyone here is lacking in logic I must say. Well, most of you.
Yes, reportedly, this song is about an elderly couple that drove off to never return. However, music and meaning assigned to music is completely subjective. There is no objective view when our brain's process music. There can be to a degree; for it is fun to discover the genesis of such things, it can help us better understand...but the bottom line is: meaning in any artifice is subjective, not objective. So, clearly, this song can have various meanings for many people. It may have been meant one thing to the bass player who wrote it, but put it out into the cosmos and it instantaneously takes a myriad of meanings for countless people.
For me it is waning youth and suicide and how beautiful it can be. That is what I hear. |
