Yoav – Wasteland Waltz (UK version) Lyrics 16 years ago
This is place is wasteland
Its written all over your face
The strip malls stretch out to skyscrapers sprawled up into space

I've got to get out of here
Before it gets into us
I swear we can slip out the door
While there's life still to taste
Before the first light hits the steel eyes
We'll make our escape

Do you think you're the only one,
Starving for wonder?
'Cause you're not the only one,
Who's going under

We'll sneak through the streets
Coolly watching the ghost neon glow
There's no need for road signs
To read or a map to follow

Straight into the darkness ahead
And into the silence
Where everything disappears
And no one can ever find out

Empty faces
And other spaces close
Silent faces
Steal these wasted souls
Soon we'll be gone now
Soon we'll be gone now

This is place is a wasteland
It's written all over your face
Let's slip through the cracks in the floor now
There's no time to waste

I've got to out of here
Before it gets into us
I swear

Yoav – Where Is My Mind Lyrics 16 years ago
One more correction:

"Your head will collapse,
But there's nothing in,
But you ask yourself,"

should be:

"Your head will collapse,
But there's nothing in, it,
You ask yourself,"

I also posted corrections to a lot of the other lyrics for this album.
Thanks for posting them in first place!

Yoav – Sometimes Lyrics 16 years ago
Corrections:

Sometimes a man,
Is a lost cause,
In a strange time,
In a cruel, cruel world,
Sometimes,
It all, all amounts to nothing,
Sometimes the day's long as the night turns cold,
And you just don't know what to feel anymore,
And you live without love,
When you live in doubt,

Sometimes a man,
Is a, fool,
When he thinks he's wise,
And he just won't see what's before his own eyes,
Sometimes,
The truth is hard to find,

Sometimes a heart's at stake,
When your heart aches,
And you just can't shake it off,
Take it away,
Take it away,
And you live without love,
Live, with, out,
When you live in doubt, love
Live in doubt,
You live without love,
Live, with, out,
When you live in doubt, love,

Sometimes a man,
Is a, lost cause,
In a, strange time,
In a, cruel world,
Sometimes a man,
Is a, lost cause,
In a, strange time,
In a, cruel world,

Sometimes you try,
And you try, and you try,
But you don't know why don't you open your eyes.
Sometimes you try,
And you try, and you try,
But you don't know why won't you open up your eyes.

Sometimes a man,
Is a, lost cause,
In a, strange time,
In a, cruel world,
Sometimes,
Sometimes a man,
Is a, lost cause,
In a, strange time,
In a, cruel world,

(Repeat x 2)

Don't let the time you have,
Come down,
Come down,
Down,
Down, to nothing.

Yoav – Angel And The Animal Lyrics 16 years ago
Corrections:

As winter fall down London town,
I feel the walls closing in,
The silver sky is turning us, to stone,
We hibernate beneath the ground,
Feeling so broken and,
Cannot tell the day and night,
Apart.

Well I think,
But I'm not sure,
I don't know how,
It is, we came to be here,
Doesn't it seem strange,
I mean, could it be it's not really happening now.

And the animal,
Is always in your heart,
And the animal,
Forever will be where you are.

Breathe in the air for me,
You don't know what it feels like,
To be, free,
But your innocent experience,
Can lead you astray sometimes,
And passion isn't always the key,
So you dig in and I hold out,
And don't let go for nothing,
Did you see me fall,
Or is this not really happening at all.

Angel,
And the animal,
Are always in your heart,
Angel,
And the animal,
Forever will be where you are,
One day,
You'll remember this,
When all has come to pause,
One day,
You'll remember you are,
Not the one you think you are,

As winter leave from London town,
I feel my heart opening,
So I, turn around and breathe you in,
Again.

Yoav – There Is Nobody Lyrics 16 years ago
Corrections:

I didn't notice the sound of the click of the door,
I didn't notice the breath of the air in my face,
I did not once look up into the rooftop sky,
I didn't notice the fear that we'll always abide
I did not notice the steady now passing of time.

All the seas bursting up,
The queens rules the sidewalk,
And though I noticed the faces of three who didn't notice me,
I didn't notice then I soon forgot

And there's a hole, in a hole, in a hole,
In a,
Down in a hole, in a hole,
I fell right through the hole in you.

There is, nobody,
Not real, not true,
There is, nobody.

I did not notice you not being there at all,
She enters the tale through a crack in the wall,
I didn't notice the curl around her sleeve,
I didn't notice the fire still burning now, deep.

In a hole, in a hole,
In a,
Down in a hole, in a hole,
You fell into the hole in you,

Not real, not true,
There is, nobody,
There is me,
There is no you,
There is, nobody,
I did not used to be confused,
But when I look, it's all I see,
There is, nobody.

The daylight,
Has ended,
Its meanings,
Surrendered,
The light, dead,
It's not too late.

There is, nobody,
Not real, not true,
There is, nobody,
It is not me,
It is not you,
There is, nobody,
It is not me,
It is not you,
There is, nobody.

There is, nobody.

Yoav – Live Lyrics 16 years ago
Corrections:

I want, I want,
I can't seem to get,
What I want,
Ought to find a peace of my mind,
That I need,
I need,
To fulfill my greed,
And I'll walk through hell or heaven until I succeed,

I want, I want,
It's never enough,
I dream all the big dreams,
Of all the right stuff,
That I need,
I need,
As much as I must,
'Cause when the end comes,
From dust to dust we go.

Like fading stars under the sky,
You got to get to live before you die,
Before you die.

Oh well today sees the dawning of a new daylight,
Another last chance to put the world to right,
But if we've got no control of the skin that we're living in,
Then tell me why can't I have another hit of that adrenaline,
Can I have another hit of that adrenaline?

Like fading stars under the sky,
You got to get to live before you die,
Know that you just take a rest,
Look around,
Let your feet touch the ground, go!
What if we're never coming down, now?
What if we're never coming down?

No price I wouldn't pay,
To take your breath away,
No price I wouldn't pay,
To take your breath away,
One more time,
One more.

Can I have another hit,
I wanna have another,
Can I have another hit,
I wanna have another,
Can I have another hit,
I wanna have another,
Why can't I have another hit,
I wanna have another!

Like fading stars under the sky,
You got to get to live before you die,
Know that you just take a rest,
Look around,
Let your feet touch the ground, go!
What if we're never coming down, now?
What if we're never coming down?

Like fading stars under the sky,
You got to get to live before you die,
Know that you just take a rest,
Look around,
Let your feet touch the ground, go!
What if we're never coming down, now?
What if we're never coming down,
What if we're never coming down,
What if we're never gonna come down now.

Yoav – Adore Adore Lyrics 16 years ago
The song is not necessarily about greed, but about American television, celebrity worship, and corporate interests that control the news and many parts of American life that we are so used to that we don't even realize it.

Yoav – One By One Lyrics 16 years ago
More corrections:

I do not dream of drifting away,
In a boat that we made without hard earned pay,
And I do not mean, did he show the tie, (I don't think this line is right either)
To lead me astray in the land where dreams die.

Working day out,
Working day in,
It's been this way for as long as we can recall,
Working day in,
Working day out,
Gone are the days when we wonder what we come here for.

Yoav – Wake Up Lyrics 16 years ago
Yoav has stated an interview that this song is about people not being mindful of the consequences of their actions - not just the obvious actions like hate, but the everyday actions that we all do without understanding how those actions enable hate and death. It is about waking up in a society where humanity is lost...Where people who don't realize that the path they have been following results in a meaningless life and contributes further to a corrupt society. We are already at a point where it is nearly impossible to live up to society's standards without having contributed to the loss of hope, to inequality, to death, to war, and destitution and despair. The complexities of how the average person's life is intertwined with all that dread is not obvious. Even when you think you understand, years later, you'll realize another layer to the onion that can be peeled back. It's a beautiful song with a strong message that change must happen.

If you are interested in understanding some of these complexities and learning how to make a change in the world, I recommend reading "The Search for a Nonviolent Future: A Promise of Peace for Ourselves, Our Families, and Our World" by Michael Nagler.

I wake up,
In the middle of the night,
I shiver in a state of fright,
And the dream in my head doesn't fade,
It gets clearer instead,
In my dream people are slaves,
False prophets on the airwaves,
And every channel, every station,
Preaches to our separation,
I'm dreaming,
Oh, I'm dreaming,

Both literal and metaphoric at the same time - This person is dreaming about his world as it already exists - The world that the average person sees on a daily basis - But he "wakes up" in the sense that something in his subconscience (dream state) clicked and the world that he he was seeing suddenly had more meaning - The people in his world (including himself and each of us) are slaves to the will of others who do not have humanity as their interest - slaves because we are trapped in a world where money, buildings and power are more important than love and compassion. The media (television and radio) contributes to the suffering of the poor and to a greater divide amongst us through its "prophets" (celebrities, advertisements, news anchors, etc.).

Oh, I wake up,
In the middle of the night,
I found my dream in the coat of light, (not sure here...cloak of night? cold half light?)
A brave new world in my head,
Ruled by monkeys and the living dead,
I see power for power,
Money for money,
Fame for fame's sake,
A new religion for the human race.

The world he previously saw as normal is now obviously a world of craziness...Where people have rulers and leaders making decisions that may wind up to be no better for humanity than decisions made by a monkey...A world where people are scientifically alive but dead to mindfulness...A world where power is coveted solely for the sake of being powerful (for self-serving purposes rather than the good of those who will be without the power - which just results in more power struggles and "self" becoming the focus - an immature and harmful focus that we should be moving beyond by puberty)...A world where money is coveted without thinking about why and what made money more important and desirable than true happiness...A world where fame is sought solely to be the center of attention - again a mentality of "self." A new religion for the human race where worship is truly of the self, where regardless of the words we say, our actions are primarily self-serving...And it is impossible to have a world of love and compassion when self is the focus. (Slightly oversimplifying this philosophy...But...There are three possible focuses - self, others, and reality - and maturity progresses in that order - Attitudes of our current society can keep us locked in the focus of self and lead to our demise.)

But if all the walls go down tonight,
What if all the walls go down tonight,
Tonight, tonight,
And if all the walls go down tonight,
It would be okay,
I would be alright.

The thought of all the walls going down in our world could escalate this dream to a nightmare for the person who does not see beyond the facade of our modern world, but this is a hopeful, prayerful verse. If all the walls were to collapse, this person who sees the facade knows that he would be okay...And sees that as frightening as the thought is, humanity would actually be alright.

Oh, I wake up, in the middle of the night,
My senses screaming 'something's not right,'
There's a shadow on the wall,
Doesn't look like my shadow at all,
I wake up, in the middle of the night,
My senses screaming 'something's not right,'
There's a shadow in my bed,
I'm not alive, but I'm not dead.

Describing the act of waking up again...recognizing that the thoughts that so many of us have that "something is just not right" are thoughts that exist for very good reasons...The evil becomes recognizable as evil...He is able to see that the life he has been living is really no life at all. He's not alive (not living a purposeful life), but he's not dead (there's still a chance to make a change).

Every empire falls, into the sea,
Oh, and fades away, from memory,
Eventually,
Oh, eventually,
Everything just fades away,
Oh, eventually.

Empires are self-serving by nature. Historically, empires die. Some disappear completely (literally, have disappeared into the sea) and we don't even have historical records - and may not know about one until we discover buried ruins. Other empires disappear as they are replaced by new empires. The history of the old empire becomes lost in biased accounts of history. The world we live in today is comprised of numerous "empires" (countries, religions, corporations) struggling for power. We are currently in this dream. We are at a crossroads where we can make a change that will result in the end of empires while humanity thrives...or we can continue to value superficiality, worship money and power more than God, and also result in the end of empires - but possibly at the cost of all human life as well thru something as insane as nuclear war.
