@[MissNeurotic:22447] Yes, I'm sure that these lyrics came from the same place as 'Minority' - that he feels like a pedestrian amongst the motorists - separated and different from most people. But I do get the feeling he's okay with that. I have the feeling he's always been different and has perhaps struggled with that in the past, but with time has realised that he doesn't want to be like them anyway, because that's not what he is ... |

I always thought this song was about feelings of isolation; that the writer feels like a pedestrian walking among the motorists around him, but that he's okay with that: 'Where I go, I go alone, as long as I am taking my time.' I also believed it was about suicide and deciding to leave on one's own terms, as I heard later lyrics to be 'I don't have answer to be specific, but I'll give you the reason - the reason is true: I did my time, and now it's time to go.' I've since understood that this was a mishear (or mondegreen) but, all the same, I drew great comfort from the words I thought to be correct when someone dear to me made that decision. For that I am eternally thankful. |

I'd guess it's about struggling with addiction - though he's clean, the temptation is always there ("satan is singing me lullabies". But it's a positive song - "though I can touch you, you're so far away" - he knows he could go back, but he has no intention of doing so; and "though I'm still bleeding, I won't die" - he's determined to get through it. Eloquent, succinct and soulful. Wish I could write like that! |
