@[mnmike:31704] You know, I also think it is not "Men of night," but why would it be "The mat of night" ?? That makes no sense. I thought it was "No man of night admits to...". But now I don't know what to think.

@[mnmike:31702] Inspiring is a very interesting perspective! 10 years later I am still single and the song still puts off a very melancholy and hopeless vibe to me. It's like chasing a dream or a fantasy that is not real and is always just out of your reach (*someday*).

Electric President – We Were Never Built To Last Lyrics 16 years ago
I agree with cegli too, we concrete the blue skies makes no sense, and no one blinks an eye makes much more sense in the context of the song.

I love this song too, but what does it mean? I mean I know that it feels, like you're trapped. And I can pick up on all the feelings I get listening to it. But like, is there a certain thing it's supposed to symbolize?

Death Cab for Cutie – Someday You Will Be Loved Lyrics 16 years ago
This is me! Haha these songs can probably relate to everyone at some point, but I feel like my ex boyfriend is singing this to me. He feels really bad but he just didn't love me, and he wants me to be happy so he tries to tell me that I'm really cool and that I'll find someone that's way better to me than he was. It hurts both of them that it didn't work, but ultimately there's nothing you can do about it. Just one of those things that happens and eventually you'll move on no matter how badly it hurts to even try.

I LOVE THIS SONG, I'M ADDICTED TO IT! It makes me feel empty and full at the same time. It's on my meditation playlist and my party playlist. It makes so much sense, if you're on here looking for it's meaning you're at the wrong place. Look inside yourself, words cannot possible describe this song. This song is so much more than poetry, so much more than beauty. It is hopelessness and despair, it is hope and it is truth. This song is fucking truth.

That's funny that there's no comments on this one. I listen to it all time. I like it. It's like 49 seconds long, but it's catchy. The meaning is pretty self-explanatory; life is repetative, live is meaningless. We are all the same. But that's the goal isn't it?

Death Cab for Cutie – A Movie Script Ending Lyrics 16 years ago
To me, this song is about moving on. That's where the highway metaphor comes from, and it ties into the video too. Their relationship looked functional from the outside and neither of them wanted to leave, because it was safe. But behind closed doors, i.e. in bathrooms and parking garages, the girl was in shambles.
I might just be thinking this way because of the relationship of mine that just ended, but it makes sense in my mind. It is about moving on when you don't want to. And you want to convince yourself that you don't have to, but in the end there's no getting out of it.

I can't believe nobody has commented on this yet. I love this song; I love this album. Ben Gibbard is amazing, I think it's a safe bet to say I'm his biggest fan..

My favorite line from this one is "Nobody ever dares to write the true story of love, the secret underground truth of desire."
On the surface it sounds pretty self explanatory, depending on your relationship status I guess.
I'm just going through a really sad breakup, so to me I understand how unexpressable this pain is. Even if I wanted to explain it, I couldn't. I think there's more to the line than that though. I wish I could say it but it's one of those things that words don't quite do justice too.
In the song it makes so much more sense than it does reading it here and talking about it.
Something about art gives all mediums the ability to express ideas in a way words simply can't, no matter how extensive one's vocabulary might be.. ;)
