| you know, you are completely right. I still think it could also be about a boy/girl. but, really, none of us know. we're just spectulating. maybe sometime the writer will actually post and tel us. | |

| wait a minute, you mean that if you can't stop thinking about some person, no matter how hard you try, you love them? | |

Everyone, I truly believe I can tell you what these lyrics mean. It’s basically my situation. This song is about a boy singing about a relationship. They broke up, and he’s...well, shattered. 1. “In a way I need a change 2. from this burnout scene 3. Another time, another town, 4. another everything, 5. but it’s always back to you” Line 1-2 means he wants to get away from the emotion, all the “burn” left behind. Line 3-4 is easy. He wants to just forget everything. Line 5: no matter how hard he tries to think about anything else, he just can’t forget her. 6. “stumble out, in the night 7. from the pouring rain 8. made the block, sat and thought 9. there’s more I need 10. it’s always back to you” I don’t see how 6-7 relates to me, but he needed some alone time to think (oh, wait a minute-I have done that) 8-9 is when he realizes he can’t live without her (actually, I guess this would work for a girl singing about a guy too). 10; see above. 11. “But I’m good without ya 12. yeah I’m good without you 13. yeah, yeah, yeah” These lines are that he’s trying to convince himself he doesn’t need her, which of course he is failing at. 14. “How many times can I break till I shatter? 15. over the line can’t define what I’m after 16. I always turn the car around 17. give me a break let me make my own pattern 18. all that it takes is some time but I’m shattered 19. I always turn the car around” 14- Means… I don’t really know, but I break every time I have to look at my ex. I shatter every time I see her with… the new guy. 15- he’s after something (duh) but doesn’t know what. On 16 and 19, he really wants to turn this situation around. 17- he’s shattered, and will take some time to heal, but let him heal himself; “make my own pattern.” 20. “ I had no idea that the night 21. would take so damn long 22. took it out, on the street 23. while the rain still falls 24. push me back to you” Twenty and twenty-one mean exactly what they say-the night is damn long. 22- I guess he went in the street, but I dunno. Means 23, the rain probably means tears. I wanted to cry, but was beyond them. 24- he wants something to happen to bring them back together, even though he knows it’s pointless in just thinking about it. 25-27 See above. 28-33; also see above. 34. “give it up, give it up, baby 35. give it up, give it up, now 36. now” These lines mean that he knows he should just “give it up” and forget everything, but still can’t. 37-39 see above, yet again. 40. “ all that I feel is the realness I’m faking 41. taking my time but it’s time that I’m wasting” These mean exactly what they say. 42-45; you should know the drill already. Look up (oh, and lines that I say ‘see above’ are repeating lines.) 46. “Don’t wanna turn that car around 47. I gotta turn this thing around.” Line 46 is that he still wants to “turn the car around”, but doesn’t know how to. He can’t find the words. His last and final words to the matter show his desperation to (yet again) turn it around, and to hold on to life. It’s meaningless. It’s pointless. Why move on? Okay, that’s basically my story (and ‘his’) I hope I explained everything well. If you guys have any comments, please reply. And, just for the record, it took me 1 FREAKING hour to type this! Typing with not only 1 hand, but your non-dominate hand, really sucks. I would advise you not to get your wrist broken. And, I applaud anyone who read this whole thing. |
