I can't help but think of this song as a possible commentary on where The Strokes have been for the last five years. All apart, all hanging out with new friends, yet all kind of wishing they'd all get back together again, and all waiting on each other to make a move. Everyone waiting on them to make something new so they can stop singing the same song for 10 years. It sounds a bit like a plea from each of them to the others to stay together. I might be projecting what I want to see on it, but I can't shake the idea. Either way, amazing song, drop dead gorgeous guitar solo, and I'm so glad they're back. It seems these past five years of waiting has made this song sound all the better for our patience and hardship. Super excited for Angles, and long live the Strokes! |
