Justice – Tthhee Ppaarrttyy Lyrics 15 years ago
I don't understand why this song belongs in an album alongside songs called "Waters of Nazareth", "Genesis" and "Let There be Light". The narcissistic lyrics contradict the biblical model so why does the album "present" biblical themes?

Satanism inverts biblical principles in an apparent "biblical" context. This for example makes "Heretic" by Nine Inch Nails more palpable because the song is openly atheist rather than presenting as theist and then contradicting itself. Duplicity is pernicious gasoline for anti-Christian hatred.

I read one claim that Justice is a Christian band, but this song does not support that claim.

I erased this song because I think letting my roommate beat me over the head with a frying pan for an hour would be more enjoyable, but more importantly I like tunes similar to Daft Punk.

According to Wikipedia Uffie had a child and endured a divorce since releasing this album and after a hiatus released "Sex Dreams and Denim Jeans", though I haven't listened to it yet I admit I'm curious to hear how her music has evolved.

Sufjan Stevens – Get Real Get Right Lyrics 15 years ago
This is interesting because distraction is a number one killer of any kind of work or good thing. A good life is characterized by focusing and channeling one's energy and attention, not by compulsively indulging every single shiny idea no matter how compelling and revealing. The former brings peace, the latter anxiety and confusion. The former is an expression of humility or the awareness and acceptance of one's mental limits.

Metric – Twilight Galaxy Lyrics 16 years ago
Authority figures eh? Well that's pretty retarded from my point of view:

Until I started tenaciously pursuing my dreams, I had been a miserable depressed pseudo-suicidal wreck chasing after mediocre careers, cars and curls... without any happiness at all. I have all kinds of baggage that contributed to all that, but working on my dreams abated me of all of that (surprisingly). Never been more sure of what I'm doing and where I'm going.

Most importantly, I'm shocked and amazed with what I'm learning now along the way.

So when authority figures tell you not to dream, from my vantage point that is akin to telling you to be happy and content with being lost and confused. Take it from me, that is a huge myth, just massively wrong.

Ok and I suppose my interpretation of the song is... yeah the whole "I've seen all the demons that you've got" hit me hardest. I think she might be saying that your demons aren't necessarily what's standing in your way.

Teenage love song? My friend, infatuation and unrequited attachments are not limited to teenagers, nor are they limited to women. Males and females of all ages can suffer from this kind of thing.

I can't believe the U.K. would ban a song like this, are you serious?

Emily seems to have some passionate ideas that are counter-cultural. I think this is why her music sticks to my ribs. I think the world's obsession with love and "being on-top" is cheating each individual out of discovering their potential. Everybody just wanna... be distracted??? Is she singing to the music industry here? or the masses who feed it?

From my vantage point, when you get to the place where your dreams and goals become more important to you than finding love, then one can understand but I think not before. It's not that your desire to have love lessens, it's that your desire to "be" intensifies over it.

It's hard to measure success when you're independent and lack the tools to do so. This is one of Metric's challenges. Also since pressures of the music industry reflect consumer demand, they are willingly turning-down a larger market. But all this focus and creativity just makes them stronger in the end, like fine gold tempered in a furnace.

I know that this is just the sort of thing I am drawn to, and the more I witness money being used to take the easy way out in life, the more I am repulsed by it, by people who cling to it, who've eagerly chained themselves to the wrong gold.

They should totally go for it. What have they got to lose? It's only life! Nobody and I mean NOBODY gets out alive anyway!

P.S. I wouldn't have bothered commenting if I didn't believe you were worth it. But your post indicates someone much more interesting and "pure" than the sea of mediocre "personalities" I have to cope with (on a daily basis) whom chase after the almighty one-dimensional dollar and then try to kiss my ass.

Keep kicking at the darkness until it bleeds daylight. Never stop. Never quit.

I used to think a lot like you do, so listen to me very carefully: You build character upon the sidewalks of life, not up on the mountain tops. An orchestra of little victories, not a handful of epic battles. This is what will make you shine.

Perfect love is manifest precisely when it feels like you have nothing left to give.
