Amy Winehouse – Back To Black Lyrics 14 years ago
Hmmn. I doubt Amy or Blake's squalid flats count as home in a 2.5 kids kinda interpretation.

Er No, the Black she goes back to is Heroin. Doesn't anybody read the (tabloid) news?

Back to Black is about her going back to Heroin whenever Blake leaves her.

In answer to your question
" I wish people with talent like Amy could stay clean and respectable. Wouldn't all of us just be a whole lot better off musically???".

Unfortunately, no. Musically speaking it wouldn't be better for us if artists and musicians were clean and respectable. Wether we like it or not, Drugs serve as an inspiration and muse for a great deal of the music we all love.

However, If you had said "wouldn't it be better for Amy's health and her affect as a role model if she were clean and respectable" then the answer would clearly be YES!

Miike Snow – Black & Blue Lyrics 14 years ago
From what I've read the lyricist Andrew wyatt had a time of heavy substance abuse. I think the lyrics are about the periods of relapse. The title Black & Blue may even translate to black (slang for heroin, a la back to black Amy Winehouse) and blue - periods of depression in and out of addiction.

"How long has it been, shall we get into it again?" and "Hello my friend, I see you're back again & Hello mystery, don't bother to explain" could relate to being back on the drugs. Read the lyrics with that in mind and they may make more sense.

BTW I reckon the whole album, lyrically speaking, is about Wyatt's drug issues but it's just a personal theory based purely on a hunch, so take with a pinch of salt.

Amazing record though. Spanning some of my favorite genres in a fresh way with full artistic honesty. A beautiful listen.
