I think that this song is about the realization of life and death as viewed from the grand universe. The absolute inferior human life is really our most valuable and priceless expereince...but compared to the reality of the universe it is a paradox. "Time will kiss the world goodbye" and "a dying scream makes no sound" points out how insignificant we are. The setting sun "falling down" on him references the realization that the sun (as part of the universe) will outlive our dreams and make in lost in oblivion (connects to the "dying dream"). The other important line is that he mentions that everything is falling down "on all that I've ever known". This is a line from Hamlet in the grave digger scene where Hamlet ponders the fact that our ambition, lives, dreams, etc will be lost and forgotten to bones in the ground. He also says that all that he knows is everything he knows...meaning that his knowledge is his downfall and he can never progress to anything greater than his mortal world. In the chorus he metnions this with the reference to God and how he still is worthless and will eventually be lost in time. Out of all the lines...I think "Catch the wheel that breaks the butterfly" does refer to the quote of Alexander Pope's Epistle to Dr Arbuthnot(the wheel was a torture device and he said be mentioning that it is overkill to use the wheel on something as helpless and small as a butterfly) It sets the tone for the song...he is saying to catch the torture wheel of death on something so insignificant like a butterfly (and he refers to himself/humanity as the butterfly). The "wheel" I believe could be the attempt that everyone one tries to imagine and fabricate in their lives to reach a state or postion that will outlast a mortal and insignificant life...or it could be the fate of the world. Regardless, our conscience and world will fall down on us... |

universally speaking? Love is a universal language...everyone can give/recieve it and understand and connect to it... RHCP always leave a missing line out in some of their songs. Sometimes you can leave it up to the listener to fill it in to raise thought or you could guess (Universally Speaking -I love you-) And whoever putting these lyrcis up is on crack or has dyslexia...whoever put these up should look on the artit's official website or CD and get it right god damn it... |

| Oasis – Morning Glory Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Ok...one thing that people are missing with this entire song is that Oasis probably MEANT TO HAVE A DOUBLE MEANING! I completley agree with the coke reference...between all your dreams are made (from being high), the mirrors and razor blades it makes sense. At the same time...it is also describing the otehr part of the addiction...coming to terms with yourself and fighting the addiction. "You need a little time to wake up...what's the story morning glory?" One...it can be about drugs and having trouble to wake up after a high, and the morning glorgy has so many drug references (name for a someone who was high and crashed/had to wake up, and the actual flower that is a drug like you are drugged up) and it also talks about sobering up and finding out what you should do with your life when you just want to stay in bed, not face the music and try to sleep (like a morning glroy will do and die after 1 day if they can't open) | |

LYRICS R WRONG! If you listend... Cigarette fingers ember stain Incriminating notes on a paper chain Did you ever get the feeling that you’ve been cheated? I wanna bust out I’ve not been defeated We’re all strong bones they hold no water Got the whiplash smile, this gets harder Time has wound down in the evning cache Because half measures are all half ass How did we ever end up this way? And I fall numb in disarray Cultivating our ignorance Didn’t we have some standards once? I hate you and your cowboy boots though We wanted clever, we settled for stupid You threw it all away so indiscreet Like a bad boyfriend he's a dirty little cheat It’s a shallow vicious state of mind Like an angry child getting dumped online And give me back my photos will you? You fucking whore I’ll kill you! (Don’t believe it) Don’t believe a word (Don’t believe) Just keep on breathing (Don’t believe it) Cause pretty soon (Don’t believe) That good King George will wake up screaming Our soundtrack is a souless thing Some dull ache replace the sting Rap stars brag about shooting each other? Whatever happened to "brother brother"? We like thugs when they attack and We like crime when it’s black on black and Isn't this you cold-hearted fake? Isn’t this more than you can take? (Don’t believe it) Don’t believe a word (Don’t believe) Just walk on by (Don’t believe it) This moment will pass (Don’t believe) And then we all can all get high ya (Don’t believe it) Don’t believe a word (Don’t believe) Just keep on breathing (Don’t believe it) Cause pretty soon (Don’t believe) That good King George will wake up screaming Wake up screaming (hahaha) Wake up screaming (Ohhhhhh) YEAH! (yeah!) YEAH! (yeah!) YEAH! (yeah!) YEAH! (yeah!) Round up all the big lynch pins Hope we don’t get fooled again All sensation makes no sense You got some insane confidence I can’t find myself I can’t change the station In this corprate sell-out hilbilly nation Scandalize now with such ease America, give me back my keys Sand, it blows, a soldier squeeze Trigger on fake enemies We're all aboard, and all alone Till you come home Bring 'em home (Don’t believe it) Don’t believe a word (Don’t believe) Just keep on breathing (Don’t believe it) Cause pretty soon (Don’t believe) That good King George will wake up screaming (Don’t believe it) Don’t believe a word (Keep on breathing) Don’t believe a word (Don’t believe it) Don’t believe a word (Don’t believe it) Don’t believe a word Staright forward...sums up 21st century US. 3EB talks about all the problems and stupid/lazy things we do now. This song is like other 3EB and a "wake-up call" theme. They're saying don't believe any of the stuff you hear/see now...and they also slam the US with the Iraq war (Good King George=George w Bush => tyrant)and at the end they say bring home the troops. There are also alot of other slams in the song, like capitalism, cybernet, society's moral, society's standards, etc. It's a rebellious song...and it rocks. Classic Third Eye Blind...love it |
