| Bon Iver – Lovin's Fool Fools (Sarah Suskind cover) Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Yeah it's "you'll never know dear, how much I love you", as in the song 'You are my Sunshine'. Such a lovely, lovely song. I think the meaning is obvious - a girl who's boyfriend has left her and is moving on without her, but she can't, even though she has accepted the fact that he is. |

Brand New's live cover of this is awesome :) Amazing song, there are so many interpretations for its meaning, but tbh it could be all of them. Still, whichever is correct, it's so moving. |

Tbh, I think it's about abuse/sexual abuse. It is a cover, and the original was done by a man, so it makes sense that she's 'talking to a girl' so to speak... "Get your filthy fingers out of my pie" - that could just be a reference to how she's ruining his plans. Ruining pies by sticking fingers in them, etc. Also, "her pretty little face stopped me in my tracks" ties with this. "I took a knife and cut out her eye I took it home and watched it wither and die Well, she's lucky that I didn't slip her a smile" - she keeps watching him abuse her and he doesn't like it, so he tortures her? 'slip her a smile' - chelsea smile? "That's the price you paid" also makes sense there. But that's just my view... |
