I love this song. For me it somewhat reminds me of the relationship between my father and I. I haven't seen him in just over 8 years now. So since I was 10 1/2. "I wont break this silence we've shared for so long I will be strong" is the quote in the song that reminds me of it the most. He's recently tried to start talking to me again (thru fb) now that I'm in college, but he accused my mom (who raised my sister and I) of lying to us(or at least me, my sister was so young she has to ask who he is when we watch old home videos) about what happened with them and why they divorced, so I called bs, because theres no reason for my mom to lie to me, and really she couldnt have because I saw what went on, Im not stupid, I know what happened. But anyways, I guess he didnt like that because he hasnt talked to me since. But most of the rest of this song reminds me of my grandma (my dads mom). Especially "Hurt became hate now I'm feeling the strain, There's just too much pain" and "What could you possibly want from me, Can't you see I'm already gone, Everything we thought we'd be, I still don't feel sorry for this loss." Because I can honestly say that I hate her. Im sorry if anyone thinks that's harsh, but its true. She's the reason my dad and his brothers are the way they are now. Shes the one who ultimately lead my two uncles to turn to suicide. Because of what she out them through as kids. Shes the source, not my dad, not anyone else, thats why I hate her and not my dad. But anyways, ha sorry, my rant is over now.lol |

| Whoever wrote this song obviously wrote it with some meaning behind it. Its full of metaphorical statements. But I believe that anyone can listen to this song and interpret its meaning in their own way(i.e. drug addiction, a cult, the 60's/70's music scene) | |

I love this song. It's absolutely amazing, and completely true. Favorite quotes from it: "And how can we seek salvation when our nation's race relations Got me feeling guilty of being white" "Stop pointing fingers and take some blame Pull your future away from the flame Open up your mind and start to live" "Somewhere you got a brother, sister, friend, grandmother, niece or nephew Just dying to be with you You know there's someone out there who unconditionally, religiously loves you So just hold on cause you know it's true And if you can take the pain And you can withstand anything And one day stand hand in hand with the Truth" |
