I knew when and why this song was played before I saw the Angel episode. I felling in love with this this song and then cried like a girl when I saw the episode. I get a few different feelings from this song. One is trying to find your place in the world where you belong and know without a doubt that it is where you should be. Unfortunately, I think most of us can only wander and dream of such a place. Second, I think it is less about finding a place in the world, and more about living it until the end. The chorus really gives off some feeling of a heaven or whatever you want it to be. Finally you have a place without rain or snow, with no pain or suffering. Until then we can only travel along, and dream of that place. |

I know this is old, but I personally think this song is very specific and not about some random person. The singer is talking about the pressure he feels to be a role model for is fans, and how he feels that he always falls short. I think this is illustrated heavily by the chorus, and the chorus. Also the line "I'm addicted to being something they will look up to". He also knows that this is something he is doing to himself. ("I dig this dagger myself "). Also it seems to be a heavy theme on the album. Take a look at the song "Vices" mainly. In any case it is an epic song. I think this has less to do with a Christian meaning, and more with not being able to meet the expectations of Christians. That is my personal take on the song. |
