I actually thought of that phrase as a reference to ancient Greek mythology. "When we were made we were set apart, But life is a test and i get bad marks." According to Greek mythology, a person is born and split in two and they go through their life searching for their other half or their "soulmate." And that's their test. I know Jesse's a christian, but that was the first thought that came to mind. |

| i think it's just perfect. especially the "as the ambulance's sang, another boy without a sharper knife" i think the hospital/ambulance is a metaphor for just doing something wrong with a girl and ending up in a terrible situation, and the "dull knife" is him trying to cut,(the knife being the girl) and he ends up doing things wrong, the knife was dull, and he just hurts himself. | |

i think its just the greatest song ever. and the opening line, "September never stays this cold Where I come from, and you know" i always love to hear cuz TBS is all from my neighborhood and nearby towns and i went through a relationship ending in september and i listened to this song just to think about it a lot. so fucking pure genious. |

i think its telling a friend to stop being so dramatic and realize you could end whatever struggle (maybe love maybe abuse family etc.) easy but you want to make it seem like you can handle it and get to say you suffered through it.
