I think it's about how we blindly accept what we are told because it's expected of us. He uses the military as an example because you do what you're told and don't ask questions. The soldier is expected to do what his superiors tell him. Not ask questions (though he still has questions because he cannot ask them). And when he does ask said questions, he is simply told to "Shut up." Or maybe it's just a fun little song Kalnoky wrote for the hell of it. |

He's singing about how he doesn't need religion to find his place in life. "I don't need a vision, A light to embrace. (God, Jesus, etc are called The Light) And I don't need false promises, hopes and wishes (Heaven, forgiveness) To find my place so I keep singing." |

| Memphis May Fire – You're Lucky It's Not 1692 Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Sounds to me like DevlinMurphy's right, but I think it's also sort of about the Salem Witch Trials. "I've known some witches this town will still not burn/Their never held on trial and we'll never learn." Anybody that has basic knowledge of them (the trials), can see that they're using those as a backdrop for the song. Plus, 1692 is when the Witch Trials went down | |
