this is perhaps the best song I've ever heard. No doubt I'm echoing several hundred comments hear (I don't feel like reading through all 800), but Viva la Vida is absolutely epic. From the string quartet to this brillance of using the actual bells in the chorous, it's so perfectly composed. the lyrics really put the song together though. "Be my mirror, my sword, and shield" is one of the best lyrics every written as far as I'm concerned. The voice has lost everything, his kingship, his companions (as he now sleeps alone) and just wants someone to be his everything. He had missionaries and heard Roman choirs, but is now a nobody. It speaks to the average human. Not everyone can make seas rise, or rule the world. And now this individual is depressed because they feel as though without their kingship they have nothing. No entry to heaven, no one to support them. The mutliple references to the Bible also help propel this song. From "pillars of salt, pillars of sand" to the silver plate, to St. Peter, I would hope that everyone can appreciate how well this song has been crafted. |

| I always took this to mean "Bad Company" and not "Bad People" though I agree that its deifnitely about a woman who hurt him badly, somene who laughed at his feelings and whom he now holds nothing but contempt for | |
