I love this song, it reminds me of "Dumb - Nirvana" if you listen to that, then the unplugged version of Heaven beside you you'll hopefully see what I mean, anyway; about a relationship going down the pan of course, he sees where things are going on but feels powerless to change himself, sees it coming a mile off, does nothing like being on a set of rails and things just split, "heaven beside you" I think describes his partner who he sees as perfect, there is a certain detatchment in the way he describes himself which suggests to me a resignation to his situation. All very sad, and very personal, simple and powerful. They just don't make music like this anymore. :( |
