This is my fave Kings of Convenience song. Its not about a relationship with anyone except oneself and life. The traveller must trust that he will get to wherever he is going in time. The details of getting there are left up to whoever is conducting the vehicle. The song is about trusting the process of life while travelling to whatever destination you are going to. Some how, our eyes, our inner vision tell us where to look to keep balance, an even keel - the horizon- on which experiences come and go each and everyday as we journey into life. |

Its about how a girl got pregnant to trap a man into a permanent relationship. Because she knew that the man would not abandon the child she believed that he would never abandon her once she conceived with him , but, although he can be a good father and will stay with the mother for the sake if the child that doesn't mean that he will ever love her again. The mother and child almost died in childbirth but they made it, It's a miracle of life, but he wont touch her anymore..."what will we become"? Numb, for indeed how far from being love in can there be a state of love when you have been coerced into a lifetime relationship with someone? He will never leave her, for the sake of the innocent child but he will never love her as he once did. They made up by the way and everything fine now ;) (almost) |
