Yeah basically what someone said before, I'm pretty sure t's a song talking about a famous rape case in the 80's in the Philippines. Famous comedians, Joey and Vic Sotto and a third person (Richie something) were accused of raping Pepsi Paloma (an actress) after getting her really drunk and passed out and she ended up killing herself. People speculate that she was murdered because she ended up dying before she could even testify. She did apparently have a history of depression and suicidal tendencies but I wouldn't be surprised if she was killed. People think it's a cryptic song because people expect that out of the Eraserheads but the song literally mentions Joey and the song is a lot like the story of Pepsi's rape. |

I thought it sounded kinda hopeful when Ben goes, "No concerns about the world getting warmer//People thought that they were just being rewarded". And then during the following lines I picture what I believe he's picturing, which is a "perfect" world where everyone and everything is the way it was meant to be and everyone and everything has found their niche. But in my personal opinion, that would be terribly bland.. still, it's an attractive ideal. |

Here's a piece of my interpretation. In the first verse where it says "tables and chairs worn by all of the dust", the dust is the same dust in the last verse, when the person in this song passed on. So it's like they never really left the place they lived, where they "don't feel alone", and to live in a house and "to build a home" is more than just wood and stone, it's putting parts of you in it as well. In this case, the dust. Just thought I'd throw that out there..
In a separate note, this song makes me wanna cry.. for reasons good and bad. |
