| "I crawl with flies" is imagery of the devil. This feels like a struggle between good and evil, with the protagonist of the song as the tempter. If it speaks of a real person, he would be one of those people who uses everyone for his own gain all the time. | |

| I think the silence is those moments when there is no pain, when there is no other voice telling you what to think or do or be. He says, "when will we heal?" The silence is the peace that we strive for when we are healing from the shit life heaps on us and what we heap on ourselves. | |

It seems to me the song is about doing something he knows is wrong, be it and addiction or an affair, and feeling like he couldn't stop himself. There's a place that fails us all inside, that lets us do things that are bad for us. "Fighting the demons will take time" is very encouraging; healing takes time and work. The impetus could be an external relationship, but he has an internal struggle. He has a relationship within himself that he knows he has to work on. The imagery of cold seems to mean emotionally cold as well as possibly dead, as in the stanza that talks about taking a deep breath because it might be the last one you get. Having dealt with unrequited love, affairs, and addiction, there are demons I fight every day. It resonates with me that there is pain, but there is love, and there hope that one day the demons will be fought and I can learn to fly. |
