its a straight battle joint... I think that Pun really used to shine on those kinds of songs yo. His flow was and still is way up there with the greats its just that he didnt get the commercial shine he deserved, but oh well kats will always got for the weaker kats. |

I freaking love this jam right here, but I am a lil confused bout the steve biko name... I know who he is and all, but I never felt I really understood why other than his stance when he was reppin for "black conciousness"... and many other reasons like his contribution to helping end the bantu education system... but is there another reason? |

I cant believe you just compared lil wayne to Andre 3000... what they are doing is by no means similar. Lil Wayne is tryna bite other rappers ish e.g. Limp Biskit... problem here is that MTV got that wayne biatch's back so he is probably gonna win a grammy for this shit or something like that then your rock purists will really get pissed... |

bars are lines... a bar is your line from its start to the word you gone ryhme with then you count em like that... when did rappers start to get recognition for one tiny lil line and not the lyrics in the whole song? that is thinking with your ass if you ask me... |

The song is mainly about the tough guy image most rappers give us when we all know that those are the same guys that end up getting hurt when words turn to actions... they arent saying that they are the real cowboys here, they are just giving commentry on the so-called cowboys of the music industry... |

uhm... Africa isnt as ugly or as pretty as some people think it is(I blame the media mostly here). This continent has suffered greatly from its years spent under colonial rule... dude we dont even own most of our resources due to that ish. I aint saying that its a fucked up place, minus the mindless killings, over populated prisons, corrupt individuals in goverment, high crime rates, the aids, poverty, our love for western culture(I am guilty of this one), terrible eduction system(South Africa), Companys that need land so they use their fat wallets to get people to die quietly with the help of the police when they refuse to leave their homes and the biggest issue sevice delievery... if you take those out of the picture Africa is your utopia. |

Tech was actually offered a deal once and he turned it down. Dude would rather make little money doing and saying alot than make alot of money doing and saying a little... that being said there are a number of artists who have become the property of record companies so they cant even go out and make music they feel anymore. Its a freaking pain, but hey the money is good. The only problem is that we the consumers are like flying insects tryna get closer to that blinding light that is the commercial industry and the dudes that run that shit are having a hell of a time taking our money and exploitting our stupidy for a laugh... |

| Gnarls Barkley – Whatever Lyrics

The song is about not giving a flying **** about anything anymore. The song does have an emo feel to it. The dude is trying to act like he aint phased by all the stuff that is really ticking him off e.g his girl friend(who he is still crazy over) moved on and things are looking good. A number of other problems are there, but he is still tryna pull a straight face and act like its all good... he knows he isnt really ok with this. How would you feel if somebody else was getting your ex to smile? probably wouldnt like it, but you would try to live with it even while it kills you deep inside... |

| Mos Def – Auditorium Lyrics
|
|
The song is about the effect that other rappers have on people. The example those rappers set makes people judge the other guys the same way... Mos talks about himself as a lyricist but he is let down by the way people bring that fake shit into rap, he lets you know that he is on top of the game. Slick Rick is telling a story bout him as a soldier in Iraq, his interactions with the locals has him on the recieving end of their lack of trust for soldiers(Americans) and they show it verbally. Its all because of the bad examples other people set for him... At the end he hits them with a classic song winning their hearts after all. |

| Eminem – Stan Lyrics

I thought that this song could have a double meaning... it is the story of the fan who ended up killing himself and his preg girl friend... on the other side it could possibly be em telling Cage to leave him alone. I get that from how similar stan claims his life is to eminem, you know that Cage said that em stole his style. That is slightly believable...
Why would em have characters with names like Ken Kenniff... it sounds like Cage Kennyls |

| Erykah Badu – On & On Lyrics

This song is full of 5%er refrences... do some research on it before you inteprit it. You know in high school english class they explain that poetry is easier to understand when you know a thing or two bout the person who wrote it. Song is no different from poetry, if Erykah says some line and maybe Ashanti has the same line, the meaning is totally different between the two artists...
I dont know much about "5 percent nation" though, it would be great if someone could help me understand it... |

To understand what she is talking about here you would have to know a lil bit bout da 5%er nation. You see she makes refrences to black men "niggas" turn into gods. This to me is a message from her as on of the 5%ers that they are not dead, they just decided to make themselves "invisible", meaning they have become less mainstream than they were before... Thats just scratching the surface here, I have to do more research and try to break down the message here... |
