In an appearence on Alexa Chung, Gaga is speaking about how "disco stick" and "vertigo stick" are basically the same thing, but she used "vertigo" in this song because she's referencing to Hitchcock movies like "Psycho, Vertigo, Rear Window". She says "I was actually listing Hitchock movies. I used to listen to this song when I started dating a guy. It perfectly relates to the feelings you get when a new relationship begins. <3 You feel so good, but at the same time you feel so bad because you're afraid it might be all in your head and you get the feeling the other person maybe doesn't feel as much as you do. Your feelings just keep increasing and you totally lose your mind, all you want is to be with that person and to forget the rest. "I cried all night" I think rapresents when you feel so good it makes you wanna cry. Beautiful song, it's perfect. I also adore the raw singing in the end. |

The girl is totally into a guy, but he doesn't feel the same way she does because he seems to be still into his ex. So, even though it hurts, she decides to let him go, since she understands his "brown eyes" are somewhere else. I love this song, especially the last part: "Everything could be everything But it's time to say goodbye so... I think the meaning is pretty clear: the guy she was with broke up with her for a while and she felt bad about it, but when he came back and they got togheter again she just couldn't feel as good as she did before. She can't forget the bad things that happened in the past and she doesn't love him anymore. Damn, this song is addictive. |

I think this song is about losing someone you really love, and that loss really gets you down, but at the same time you know that it's not the way it has to be. So, you hope that someday the other person will understand that leaving was a mistake, and hopefully he/she will come back for you. She's basically saying "no matter what, I'm always here for you, please don't let me down". Anyway, I love this song. It's just so sweet. |
