Anybody who is a true In Flames fan knows Anders always writes songs with symbolic meanings, so obviously he's not literally talking about raping someones mother. Someone mentioned before that it was about the media life which i agree with. "Hey, get in line for tragic Let us dance to the pistol magic"- Going to like an audition and doing anything they ask, like someone shooting a pistol magic making you dance. "Just aim and end another, But think as i rape your mother"- They choose or "aim" for someone basically ending who they are when they become a celebrity cause they now belong to the media. And the last part I think is refering to taking a mother's child away and like most hollywood celebrities they end up turning to drugs and stuff and ruining their lives, leaving the mother to watch and feel helpless or "raped" as their child is destroyed by today's society. But this is all just my take on it. |

To me it sounds like Corey Taylor personifies death. Stalking people so to speak just waiting for us to "let our guard down" or carelessly catch some sort of illness. And "If you hear me I'll enjoy trying to find you" sounds like it's talking about if we were to get a cure or escape death, like how many people do with cancer, death will still find us over time no matter what. It's a very creative song IMO when you think about it like that. |

The way i saw this song is, he is, like stated above, standing for what he believes even if it at times is hard to do (the whole breathing in sulfur part). And he's comparing himself to the rest of mankind where many people say they believe in something like religion or whatever, but when it comes down to it they're out of there and turn their back on it, or "run away". "My gods are untrue, I'm probably wrong but I'm better than you."- Meaning he doesn't believe in religion, and even though it may be the wrong beliefs he sticks by it unlike most people who say they're religious but pratice otherwise. This whole album is the first to me to seem to have a theme to it and all the songs were writen around that theme, "All Hope Is Gone". |
