| K'naan – Voices in My Head Lyrics | 13 years ago |

Seriously.. Who posts these lyrics? "Them voices are loud as Manhattan come from chatting They say, Anderson let us And they know you better than all these" Should be "Them voices are loud as Manhattan come from chatting They say, YOU MADE US AND LET US IN YOU know you better then all of these" Second lyric mistake in 5 minutes I've seen in two songs. |

The line: "To my man Kareem in prison" Should be: "To my man currently in prison" It doesn't make much sense for him to say his name and then say: "I can't speak your name It hurt me that you never listened" |

I don't think this is about a bene-friend situation. I think it is more-so someone who wants to be more than friends with someone. The second verse I believe speaks to that a lot: "No regrets... even if it's all I get" - I believe this line is referring to exposing ones feelings towards another person. "No regrets, even if this person turns me down" essentially "It still hurts It's never easy to forget Do I wanna be Well you never asked me" - I think this portion of the second verse is addressing the feelings after rejection, but the sought after party doesn't abandon the friendship. "It still hurts. It's never easy to forget," is what it's like trying to forget ones feelings after being told there is no chance. The next half of the verse I believe is saying "I don't want to be just friends." My interpretation of the songs meaning could be pretty biased. I have a friend who I seem to be infatuated with. I wanted to be with her so I started offering to help her with some things and did stuff without being asked. It seemed like "the less I got the more I gave." I was trying to get her to "notice" me how I noticed her. After a while I told her of my feelings, "no regrets". She turned me down saying she didn't want to ruin our friendship, that she didn't have time, etc. I tried to bury the feelings, but as the song says, "it's never easy to forget." "Do I wanna be?" No, I don't want to be just friends. I still offer to do nice things and help her out when I can, get her food when she is hungry, essentially saying "I'm right here." It turned out that it wasn't the friendship or the time or anything else that made her say no. She is in the same dilemma I'm in, but it's dealing with another person. That being said, in my endless quest to get her to notice me and that I'm doing all I can for her... I'm helping her reel in the guy she wants. Why? That's a good fucking question. |

| All That Remains – The Waiting One Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
From what I gather about this song, it is about the aftermath of an off and on relationship from the side that is broken up with continuously. It is also about no longer being "the waiting one" of said relationship (the one that waits for their former partner to come back and ultimately use them until they find another lover, get bored, etc.) "How did you think I would feel Throw me aside again How did you think I would feel I won't let you hurt me again" This verse speaks to the above statement as do many of the lines. |

I agree with J's idea but I don't think it is solely about a sour romantic relationship, but any relationship, friendship or otherwise, gone sour. However, I don't think that the line, "I had a feeling... To punish me," was a sexual reference. I believe all that is being said is that the other party would do anything to make the narrator pay for something they have done. |

| Lupe Fiasco – Put You On Game Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I think this is about evil in general, but it deals a lot with greed. I believe when Lupe created this "The Game" character, he meant for it to represent evil, and not just hustling, grinding, etc. Greed is one of the oldest things known to man. Since the start, whether you believe us to have been created by a higher being or just happened to be some special mishap in some ancient ancestors gene pool, we have wanted more and more. We want more knowledge. We want more money. We want more everything. Without greed we wouldn't be where we are. As far as the Illuminati are concerned, there is a theory about them being born from the Knights Templar, which (in the same theory) is why they were hunted down by the pope. Some who believe this theory think that the Knights Templar/Illuminati found a relic that essentially enlightened them, and they were then a threat to the pope. |

| Disturbed – Enough Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Alright so this is what I'm getting from this song, along with most of the people here it seems. The overall meaning has to do with war, more than likely the latest one on our slate, but this song could go for any war ever fought due to greed. "We don't want them, we want everything And we've stolen in this suffering" -What I'm getting from the first verse is that soldiers are expendable (we don't want them) to obtain what those in charge want (everything), even at the cost of many lives (stolen in this suffering). "And we've told them, to want everything But use caution in what you believe" -When you hammer ambition (to want everything) in someones head, it's easier to get them to do "challenges" for you. The line "But use caution in what you believe" warns about wanting something other than what the war mongers want, maybe peace and pacifism. "And the haunted, deny everything Controlling endless suffering" -Probably referring to PTSD and it's effects. Sometimes soldiers are haunted by what they've had to do and don't want to admit to their demons, thus controlling their endless suffering. "They were broken And lost everything They're so much easier to lead" -Pretty straight forward. If you have someone do something that they are against, they tend to "break", losing themselves and losing everything. And when someone has nothing left, they are easier to manipulate. "Take their hope away Take their life away Leave them nothing left inside" -Continuing on with the last line. Keep stripping someone of all they have and they become sheep. The chorus could be seen from two or more different points, but all leading to the same outcome. "When your own have died When there's no more pride When your soul is frozen Is that enough?" -Either a soldier or a family/friend losing a comrade or close one. Seeing those close to you die for greed would chisel away at your pride for letting it happen, and when they die, you are lost and it's hard to feel compassion (soul is frozen). "Is that enough" is saying just that. Isn't there enough pain and suffering? "We want nothing, we take everything Undaunted in this suffering The dark forces surround everything Make it impossible to see" -Starting with the second line, basically putting a "positive" spin on suffering. The dark forces, being greed and other forms of corruption, make it impossible to see the true purpose of the war. "Haven't they suffered enough now, etc." -Dave trying to get his point across that these people are suffering from either losing their loved ones or losing themselves in a dishonest war. "Did they even have a reason why? Countless sons and daughters left to die" -Is there a valid point in sending our children off to war? Valid being an honest reason, i.e. trying to prevent a genocide. "Can you even comprehend the pain!? Tell me" -No need to explain. This is just what I'm getting from this song. The chorus is pretty deep in my opinion, and it does pluck at my heart's strings. Talking about losing your own blood, how your trust has been raped, and how you feel nothing after losing someone is a strong emotion. Then you add how every time you think about that person your heart literally breaks every time? It definitely stirs up strong emotions for me. |
