no, that was "2-1" I think.

i thought the "oily marks appear on walls/ where pleasure moments hung before" was actually a direct reference to sex - which should have been meaningful but left her feeling empty.
apparently no one else has so far but its just a thought....

Hot Chip – So Glad To See You Lyrics 16 years ago
an old friend of mine died last year, who i hadn't seen in a very long time, so obviously it was a shock but i didn't feel personal bereavement like his family and close friends, but it was nonetheless something i thought about a lot at the time and still think about now. he was very young - eighteen - but he had already become a man, someone who could talk and listen and understand things in a way that seemed beyond his years. his family's reaction to his death was absolutely incredible - they started an annual festival in his name with proceeds going towards helping the environment... anyway, at the festival this year, his sister had everyone light enormous lanterns and launch them into the night, with this - his favourite song - playing in the background, and it was amazing, the sky looked beautiful - it should have been in a film. but the really poignant thing about it was the line "please let me go... please let me go" because lighting the lanterns felt very symbolic of that - as if we were properly sending him off.
i love how music can resound like that. it's incredible.

yeah, i really like that interpretation - the reference to American football kind of threw me, but when you put it like that i see what you mean. i suppose in literal terms a quaterback ought to be guiding you as well, protecting you, playing for your team, only the irony is this person isn't doing that for her.
