| The Weakerthans – The Prescience of Dawn Lyrics | 21 years ago |

Ok, then i will start. It seems to be about that time when you're lying in bed, trying to sleep but unable to ("count to 35 and yawn") , and thinking all those existential thoughts that come to you when you're waiting for sleep, such as the idea of death. Perhaps it's just because of my own nighttime death thoughts, but it seems as though this song has a lot of thinking about death in it, and the fear or reluctance to die. The part I don't get is the end, starting at "with the documents and kindergarten anthems..." up till the end. I don't quite get the meaning of it or how it relates to the line preceding it. And I'm obsessive about this kind of stuff, so if anyone could help me out, i would appreciate it. |

The line "I don't want a second chance to turn my stuttering reluctance into romance" is one of my favorites ever. Does anyone have any interpretations for this song? |

| That story about the tattoo is interesting, because lately I've been seriously considering getting a tattoo of some NMH lyrics. | |
| Radiohead – Banana Co. Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| Read "One Hundred Years Of Solitude" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. There is a corrupt company in the book called the Banana Company. | |

I also think this song is about Anne Frank, but also kind of war in general. "It's so sad to see the world agree that they'd rather see their faces fill with flies when I want to keep white roses in their eyes" -seems kind of like people choose death killing and war instead of choosing peace and innocence or 'white roses in their eyes'. My friend thought the little boy in Spain playing pianos filled with flames might be a reference to someone specific. Anyone know who? |

| Jann Arden – Piece Of It All Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| I'm a closet Jann Arden song. In an extremely depressed period I was often on a youth help message board, posting daily with lots of suicidal and depressed teens. I posted the lyrics to this song and I know it truly helped some people and just for that reason, I am glad she wrote this song. Some people don't usually get to hear "right now somebody cares if you live". | |
| Eels – Bad News Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| This is my favourite Eels song ever. Which is saying a lot because I love them. It's also incredibly sad. But so good. | |
