Tom Arraya is a lyrical genious. While everyone is thinking this song is about hell, It is clearly about the demoralization of America and the darker side of human existence. Domineering Deity is the Media, and The Immoral Obeservance is the public feeding into the lust and sex that the media has portrayed for people. The "forgotten children" are the generation of youth that can only look up to their "promiscuous mothers and incestuous fathers". The third verse refers to a society that has lost all moral believes and has corroded into hatred. On and On South of Heaven is referring to a society (USA) that has fallen to humanities darker yearnings. Slayer rules. |

This song is about 2 things only...A life of touring, and immortality. Touring obviously in the body of the song comparing himself to a nomad, and immortality with: Carved upon my stone My body lie, but still I roam Linked to James dying and what his grave stone will say, and yet his music will live on forever upon the earth. |

This song is about the fans of metallica literally. James is reflecting his guilty conscious of the lyrics he has written (which are all towards a negative aspect, which in turn have pulled the negative out of his fans) James is simply being the narrator for the story of countless fans that live, breath, and die Metallica. James is the following: I'm your dream, eyes, pain, hate, your only true friend now (living the experience of Metallica) The fans are: His mask, his cover, his shelter, his work, his scapegoat, his deeds, his dirty work, the ones that are blamed/ shamed (because of his work of rebellious and dangerous lyrics). Hey, I'm your life, I'm the one who took you here Hey, I'm your life, And I no longer care James telling his fans, he no longer wants the burden of being a god to his masses of fans. I'm inside open your eyes...I'm you...sad but true.
