| The song depicts her at first glance as a girl with a common personality, but I think it's just about a girl who learns that to be in the spotlight, she'll have to make some sacrifices. She says things like "my boyfriend is ruining my life" to get attention, and she likes to dance alone even though it makes her boyfriend uncomfortable. I think the writer knows that Annabelle is a special girl, because he does say "I met a girl and she's more than just a pretty face, six drinks and she still remembers my name." Annabelle loves him, because he's not so easy for her to forget, but she doesn't realize that her fight for the spotlight leads to her stepping on toes, including those of the people who love her most. | |
