Chris Cornell – Mission Lyrics 16 years ago
not really a complete interpretation but i think of it like this: usually a mission trip refers to people going around trying to convert others to a certain religion. however the narrator's mission is "to tear all your temples down." in other words, their mission is the exact opposite of what a mission in a religious sense should be. a religious view is merely one interpretation. there are definately other references to religion or faith in the song but i think the contradiction in those few lines is very interesting.

Tonic – If You Could Only See Lyrics 16 years ago
i originally interpretted this song as the narrator explaining to some third party why he is in love with someone and hes making his case for her and telling the third party that theyre being manipulative in trying to break them up...thats still very valid.
however, after going through a tough break up with the ex-girlfriend and not knowing whether we were truly broken up or whether i should still have up and spending time in relationship limbo i began to view it differently.
i feel like theres only one person in the song. the narrator. and hes arguing with himself. hes at the stage where hes not sure if he should let the one he loves go and hes trying to convince the part of him that believes he should otherwise. and then maybe the part "saying you love but you dont, give your heart but you wont" is the other side of him saying you may say you love this person now but do you really? to me its an internal struggle the narrators having.
