Florence + the Machine – Cosmic Love Lyrics 14 years ago
this is one beautiful love song albeit having a dark ambience to it.
this is my interpretation of the song.
to me this song is about the effect of love in first sight of 2 strangers meant to be with each other.
cosmic here to me would mean "divine"/"from heaven"
i would set the scene in a party...

1st verse
the girl met this boy, chatted and for that instance she fell head over feet for him.
she was overjoyed and estactic to have meet him and begin to have deep feelings for him.
she knew from that moment on there's no one else for her but him.

the 1st chorus
"The stars, the moon" to me would mean distractions in the form of other attractive guys she meets in her life/party.
but nomatter how attractive they are, to her they are all invisible/nobody (blown out) as her heart is already belong to the boy as describe by the usage of "dark" which would mean the depth of her feelings towards him which is very very deep.
yet, to her it is only in a fantasy world, she can be with him.
maybe because she's realises she is not compatible with him.

2nd verse
Inmerse with that intense feeling, regardless of the outcome she went looking for him as she felt he feel the same feeling too.
but her search was futile as he was no where in sight.
she felt sad, despair and alone.

2nd chorus
still no matter how many guys try to approach her, she show no interest in them.
this is because, there's only him in her eyes and in her heart.

bridge
she didn't gave up her search and starts asking the people "stars" they met together
as she is sure that they will tell/lead her where he is.
unknown to her as she was searching for him, he was embarking on the same search for her as well.
and finally as they meet for teh 2nd time, together they express their feelings and forever they begin to dwell in the depths of their love.

Florence + the Machine – Blinding Lyrics 14 years ago
i only come to realise how great and beautiful this song is after reading some of the comments and interpretation here.

this is my intepretation of the song..
it's about a girl that is in denial that her lover is dead.
She still mourns for him although he's long gone.
she is stuck in this restless half awake half a sleep state.
no consolation can end her grief nor can pull her back to reality.
she realise and understood that it was him that is causing her to be in this state
even when he's dead she can still "feel" him in her halucinating state.

as she sang in the 1st chorus,
although he's gone, she can still feels that he is alive.
she even forgets that she buried him.
and only throught this state they are able to be together in same space and time.

in the 2nd verse
time has passed and she is more aware and lucid of the happenings around her
yet when everyone has long stop mourning, deep inside she knew she still can't let go of him
the people around her didn't give up on her and persisted to bring her back to reality.
their effort was successful as she began to stop halucinating about him
however her new found state shocked her immensely and causes her to realise that

as she sang the 2nd chorus
she could not halucinate him being alive anymore,
or she won't be able to cry a tear for him infront of his grave anymore
and worst still she won't be able to be with him in the same space and time anymore.

desperate, she inturn turns to drugs to regain her halucinations
the more she take the more heighten her halucinations become
and finally she found the way to be with him again.
but this time it's forever...(here onwards i would interpret that she has OD and died)

in the last chorus,
she is happy that she doesn't need to halucinate about him being alive anymore
she is happy that she won't need to cry at his grave anymore
cos this time, she is already together in the same world as him.

this is indeed a dark dark song ...

Florence + the Machine – Between Two Lungs Lyrics 14 years ago
this is a beautifully crated song...
I agree with cosmiclove
"breath" here is a metaphor she uses for love or the famous 3 words "i love you".

i would intepret that the girl and the boy have feelings for each other for a long time but are just too shy to speak it out. that's why she kept repeating "trapped between 2 lungs" in the 2nd verse.

so, when the "breath" was released, it gave her the courage to move closer towards him and to start a relationship as stated in the 1st verse.

now, as they sleep, the boy professes his affection to her repeatedly as mention in the 1st chorus. since they are already a couple, she states that she doesn't need to steal glances at him, or look for love elsewhere. she feels as if flying after knowing how he felt towards her.

she vow to hold tight on to this relationship and pray to god that it will be forever.
in the end, she reciprocates by proclaiming her love to him as they make love...as stated in the last 2 lines..

"As it pushes past my lips As I...dance"
