I think this song is about a lot of things. One being that the radio and MTV are letting through so much music that has no meaning and no substance. People aren't looking for quality anymore. They're content with "imitate and water down" material. Also, I think the "but the politics need means" line might mean something like, the mediums that are playing this watered down material for the masses are only doing so because they know it attracts viewers and if they were to push the limit and play some more stuff with depth people would walk away. It's unfortunate that this song still applies now but it's good to have it to give you that sense of rising up against it. |
