Serj Tankian – Baby Lyrics 16 years ago
This is soo deep. Once again, Serj references George Orwell. But this time, he's actually separating the song into thirds, if you notice. It is cyclic and is very diminutive of 1984. Plus, it's talking about how we deal with our allies in the same way that we deal with our enemies... efficaciously.

Serj Tankian – Beethoven's C*** Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is about the whoring of art. We sometimes forget that Beethoven made the music and was not only deaf, but he truly felt the music inside of him. Musically speaking, this song is about taking tunes from older pieces and turning them into something else that you make yet more money from. He is yet again supporting the idea that you cant steal music from someone, if that music is already stolen from someone else... ideally speaking.
Thusly, being lost in time is the fact that we are always pushing "new" things, but in fact, we are simply reinventing the old. So... Beethovens cunt is time. Serj often writes his music in concentric circles, tying up the ends of the lyrics with endless implied meanings.

BUT IT SOUNDS SOO GOOD!

Serj Tankian – Bird of Paradise Lyrics 16 years ago
This song seems to be drug influenced. This was also done during a time when I believe Serj has been "finding himself". The crowd he hung out with was rather dark and this probably has a bit more meaning to the person it was written about. The Bird of Paradise is after all an extremely rare bird, on the virge of extinction.

Serj Tankian – Sky Is Over Lyrics 16 years ago
Think pollution. Not only that, but when was the last time you saw the splendor of the stars without the city lights. That's something we forget about. So he's saying dont be surprised if someday, our children won't have the priveledge of seeing the sky as anything but a terror, what with the hurricanes and all. Also remember that Serj has a new look at life, as a parent. So the lyrics do have that kind of influence. Like... Empty Walls.

Serj Tankian – Lie Lie Lie Lyrics 16 years ago
This is another strange relationship song from Serj. Watch the video. You'll get it. This doesn't literally mean incest. It's about betrayal, when women leave you. So he let her go, delightfully knowing that the fall from his arms would break them well enough, without him having to emotionally break down over them. He points out a bit of an artistic license in the lying process, too.

Serj Tankian – Empty Walls Lyrics 16 years ago
The video says it all. Being from roots tied to the Middle East, Serj has a different perspective on war. It's difficult to imagine when we realize how long the war in Iraq has gone on and how long conflicts will remain in that region, even after we are gone. Thusly, don't waste your time on coffins today. The real question was what the empty walls, were. They were places that "formerly" stored WMD's, such as biological weapons. Saddam had been sick enough to store nerve gas under public buildings, such as schools. You'd just have to watch the news from that time. The perspective swings both ways, hating the US as much as they hated Saddam. Why? Because we acted the same way... as naive children. We through a tantrum and grew drunk on our own wrath.

Līve – Lakini's Juice Lyrics 16 years ago
Not to overanalyze this song, but Lakini's Juice is people. It's the whole "Soylent Green" thing. This song is about cannabalism and what life would be like if we were only measured by the amount of fat we contribute. Fat, being what in ancient mythos, was the most precious food commodity. Thusly, in the music video were people given cattle tags and made to mate on a bed to the methodical process of the men behind the window. The end, where people were crawling into the pool, you have to realize, they are not floating. Cold grease does not float in hot grease... just an observation.

Līve – Lakini's Juice Lyrics 16 years ago
This song speaks to me of a type of cruel logic. I think that the symbology of the uncleanness and burning has much to do with the purifying factors of ancient mythos. Water, grease and fire are all explained here as physically purifying in offering a sacrifice. In Hindu subculture regarding Lakini, the sacrifices viewed man as a commodity. In a caste religious system... it was not unheard of that a person be treated as nothing less than cattle. She was not a kind goddess. Ed really put his heart into this, comparing acient mythos involving sacrifice, with today's cultural stigmas. Therefore I think the people on the bed were actually supposed to be made of grease. The numbers on their arms represented the look at people as a commodity of just... so much fat. Therefore, the pool was really full of "Lakini's Juice."
